Good communication builds confidence. Using Buildertrend you’ll receive real-time updates including schedules, photographs, selections and progress reports. Whether you’re five minutes away or overseas, you’ll always know exactly where your project is up to.

We believe informed clients make better decisions. Our detailed estimating process helps you understand where your investment is going while identifying opportunities to maximise value before construction begins.
Personal service
Unlike larger companies, you’ll work directly with Craig & Simon throughout your project. From your first meeting to completion, you’ll have direct access to the people responsible for your build and the decisions that matter.

Craig began his building career in 1990 and founded Cogan Custom Homes in 2007. With more than 36 years of building experience, Craig specialises in architecturally designed homes and major renovations throughout Northland. As a Licensed Building Practitioner and member of both Registered Master Builders and New Zealand Certified Builders, Craig is passionate about helping clients make informed decisions before construction begins. He enjoys working closely with clients, architects and designers to create homes that balance great design, functionality and budget. Craig previously served as the Whangarei Regional President of New Zealand Certified Builders and also volunteered as a Board Member of the Waipu Golf Club between 2020 and 2026, helping oversee several significant improvements to the club. Outside of work, Craig enjoys spending time with his family, boating, fishing, kite surfing, travelling and golf. He enjoys being involved in the local community and believes building strong relationships is just as important as building quality homes.
Simon Mansell

Simon brings more than 17 years of hands-on building experience. As a Licensed Building Practitioner, Simon is recognised for his calm approach, attention to detail and excellent communication with clients and subcontractors. He plays a key role in maintaining quality throughout every project and enjoys solving challenges on site. Outside of work, Simon values quality time with his wife and two children, who are heavily involved in local sports teams such as netball, hockey, cricket, basketball, mountain biking and tennis. Simon enjoys fishing off the beach at Uretiti, and mountain biking with his 12-year-old son.
